Our clientOur client is at the forefront of innovation in its sector. A well established Engineering business, based in the Newcastle area, they are continuing to win new work with new and existing clients. This Mechanical Design Engineer role has been created to support their ongoing success. The opportunityReporting to the Design Engineering Manager, you will be part of a large multi disciplinary engineering and projects department. Responsibilities include:
  • Produce conceptual designs from process definitions.
  • Layout design of mechanical/hydraulic machinery.
  • Stress and other calculations to support designs.
  • To work in multi-discipline project teams on specific aspects of the machine design.
  • To be involved in the build, commissioning, test and trials of new build machines. This can involve working abroad/offshore.
  • Working with control and software engineers to ensure correct interfacing between different aspects of machines.
  • Assistance with customer proposals and other sales activities.
  • Assistance to customer support team.
About youYou will be degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering with a strong understanding of engineering principles. Industry experience in design of low volume, complex capital equipment would be an advantage. A flexible and motivated attitude will be essential to work in this dynamic environment. Hybrid working is available after a probationary period.
