A Design Engineer position has become available with a British manufacturer based in Walsall. The business was established over 100 years ago and has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality electrical products. This position offers a competitive starting salary up to 36,000, bonus, health care, death in service and an early Friday finish.
The Design Engineer will be responsible for:
- Designing switchgear and control gear type products to meet standard specifications using Solid Edge.
- Compiling and inputting BOM's for ERP system.
- Integrating with the design team to develop new product variants.
- Producing the relevant design documentation.
- Working closely with production and customer service teams to refine product designs based on customer feedback and manufacturing insights.
- Continuously improving designs based on product testing, customer feedback and production experiences to optimise quality and reduce costs.
To be successful in the role of Design Engineer, the ideal candidate will offer the following skills:
- HNC and or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Previous experience in mechanical or electrical design.
- 2D & 3D CAD experience, ideally SolidEdge but other packages will also be considered.
- An awareness of international product standards and how to apply them.
