Overview:
Walsall Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Licensing Officer to join Regulatory Services team. This role involves coordinating and supporting Licensing Officers, processing applications, and ensuring the effective delivery of licensing services in line with the Council's objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and manage the Licensing Officers' workload, providing guidance and support.
  • Process and assess applications for licenses, permits, and registrations, ensuring compliance with legislation.
  • Prepare and present reports for committees, hearings, and court proceedings.
  • Inspect premises and vehicles for compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Handle public and business inquiries, providing expert advice on licensing legislation.
  • Investigate complaints, conduct interviews under PACE, and gather evidence for enforcement actions.
  • Develop and maintain licensing policies, systems, and databases to support service delivery.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a licensing-related role.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of licensing, including Taxis, Alcohol, Gambling, and Street Trading regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead in report writing for Licensing Sub-Committees and present findings confidently.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce reports and handle conflict effectively.
  • Proven organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads under strict deadline.
