We are currently recruiting for an experienced skilled machinist on behalf of our client based in the Midlands. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in operating various machining tools and equipment. This role involves working with precision to produce high-quality components, ensuring that all specifications and tolerances are met. A solid understanding of engineering drawings and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain milling machines, lathes, and other machining equipment to fabricate parts according to specifications.
  • CNC programming / setting / operating is essential
  • Assemble components and perform necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Utilise SolidWorks for designing and modifying parts as required.
  • Conduct grinding operations to achieve the desired surface finish on machined parts.
  • Weld components as needed, ensuring structural integrity and adherence to safety standards.
  • Perform tooling changes and adjustments as necessary for different production runs.
  • Apply basic maths skills for precise measurements and calculations during the machining process.
  • Work with plastics injection moulding processes when required, ensuring quality control throughout production.
  • Use power tools safely and effectively in conjunction with machining tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.

Qualifications

  • Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in machining processes.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with welding techniques is an advantage.
  • Experience in tooling, grinding, milling, and assembly processes is essential.
  • Basic maths skills for accurate measurements and calculations are required.
  • Knowledge of plastics injection moulding is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
