Are you a dedicated and self-motivated individual that is looking to work in the educational sector? Zest is currently recruiting for a full-time SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant on behalf of a school in Walsall on a long-term cover.

The SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant will be supporting a primary-aged student who has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The ideal individual will be able to start as soon as possible and will encourage and support the student to achieve social and academic success.

Responsibilities of the SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant role:

  • Supporting and building rapport with the student as per their EHCP
  • Communicating effectively and creating a safe learning environment to best encourage the student
  • Managing and addressing any potentially challenging behaviour
  • Keeping detailed records of the students progress and relaying back to the class teacher

Requirements of the SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant role:

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with ASD is advantageous
  • Being patient with the student to help them overcome potential learning barriers
  • Confident with handling and de-escalating scenarios
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and other support staff
