Project Buyer

LDNY People are currently working in partnership with a leading engineering and manufacturing business, they specalise in the delivery of bespoke manufacturing solutions within the highly regulated/nuclear sector.

They currently have an opportunity for a project buyer to join their team, based out of their office in the Birmingham/West Midlands region.

Role Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for the management of procurement and purchasing activities, reporting directly to the procurement and buying manager.
• Management of suppliers working on designated projects, updating project procurement plans based on cost and delivery.
• Work closely with the Project team to ensure successful project delivery.
• Work with the Engineering team to agree appropriate available material specifications and confirm that material will be sourced within reasonable time/cost parameters.
• Work closely with the head of procurement on strategy in relation to project buying.
• Manage variations and change control with sub contractors/suppliers.

Role Requirements:

• Knowledge of project life cycles, timelines, budgets and understanding of how procurement integrates into overall project delivery.
• A good understanding of materials procured in the construction/Energy sector would be extremely beneficial.
• Familiar with contract terms, conditions and legal requirements for procurement.
• Expertise in cost saving methods such as strategic resourcing, demand management and price negotiation.
• Previous experience within a buying position, ideally with project buying experience.
• MCIPS qualification or working towards MCIPS would again be highly desirable.
• Commutable to the Midlands/Birmingham region.
