The successful candidate will oversee the high level and strategic workflow for a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tax returns and computations. They’ll also be responsible for overseeing the team’s client relationships, building strong and loyal connections with clients, supporting the Partners with the provision of expert advice on tax matters and addressing queries.

Job Purpose

  • Complete and review personal and corporate tax returns
  • Ensure client assignments are completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Work collaboratively with the wider tax team, utilising resource effectively to maximise client service
  • To provide both high level tax compliance and tax advisory services to clients
  • Research specialist tax issues as required and formulating solutions
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships, ensuring awareness of their requirements
  • Recognise and respond to clients’ business needs, providing quality tax advice on all aspects of assignments
  • Apply knowledge and skills in tax advisory for high-net-worth individuals.
  • Apply knowledge of inheritance tax to clients.
  • Support the Partners with provision of advice on entrepreneur’s relief, investment bond withdrawals, trust planning, capital gains, voting rights and landed estates.
  • HMRC appeals
  • Supporting the Partners on the commercial development of the firm.
  • Managing a team of accountants, overseeing workflow and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Empower the tax team through appropriate delegation and effective people management
  • Consistently seek internal improvement, presenting opportunities to senior leadership
  • Demonstrate commitment to the firms ongoing strategic direction, communicating and adapting to change
  • Manage margins effectively to drive profitability
  • Successful engagement of new clients
  • Identify changes in Tax legislation and how they affect clients and promote new advisory projects
  • Support the leadership team with the mentoring and development of junior staff

  • Demonstrable tax advisory and tax compliance experience within a practice environment
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to lead a team and project manage, including decision-making, time management and prioritisation .
