We are currently recruiting for a time served machinist on behalf of our client based in the Midlands. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in operating various machining tools and equipment. This role involves working with precision to produce high-quality components, ensuring that all specifications and tolerances are met. A solid understanding of engineering drawings and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment is essential.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain milling machines, lathes, and other machining equipment to fabricate parts according to specifications.
- CNC programming / setting / operating
- Assemble components and perform necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit and function.
- Utilise SolidWorks for designing and modifying parts as required.
- Conduct grinding operations to achieve the desired surface finish on machined parts.
- Weld components as needed, ensuring structural integrity and adherence to safety standards.
- Perform tooling changes and adjustments as necessary for different production runs.
- Apply basic maths skills for precise measurements and calculations during the machining process.
- Work with plastics injection moulding processes when required, ensuring quality control throughout production.
- Use power tools safely and effectively in conjunction with machining tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in machining processes.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with welding techniques is an advantage.
- Experience in tooling, grinding, milling, and assembly processes is essential.
- Basic maths skills for accurate measurements and calculations are required.
- Knowledge of plastics injection moulding is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
