Walsall, West Midlands.
Special Purpose Machinery.
£45,000 - £55,000 per annum + performance bonus + 33 days holiday + company pension scheme + share ownership options.
Monday to Friday (8:00am 4:30pm).
A thriving business at the forefront of their engineering industry have a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and technically competent Design Engineering Manager to lead their multi-skilled team. Designing, assembling and installing a host of bespoke machinery for a variety of industries/applications this business boasts a comprehensive, long standing market presence spanning across multiple decades.
Having seen a surge in demand for their products across buoyant markets, the business is growing at a rapid pace. Provision of their bespoke services for an ever-growing portfolio of clients really separates them from their competitors!
The Design Manager plays an integral role in leading the engineering team, managing projects/flow of work and provision of technical design engineering expertise. With excellent growth plans, it is envisaged this position will develop into a director level role for the right motivated person!
This role with suit a Lead / Senior Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take their next step or an experienced Design Engineering Manager looking for their next challenge
Role Description.
Provision of leadership for the design team.
Liaison with clients to fully understand their needs and relaying technical information to the team.
Draft initial conceptual designs and schemes for the customers at the enquiry stage.
Managing the entire design lifecycle - performance, cost, safety & compliance, manufacturability.
Working closely with the project manager to ensure ability to deliver the solution on time.
Improving design systems to reduce design time, costs and further improve internal design systems.
Management of high-level design reviews.
Managing team resources, personnel development and training requirements.
Skills & Experience.
Special Purpose Machinery Design Experience.
Strong mechanical engineering knowledge.
Experience of managing a team of design engineers or senior design experience.
Competent in the use of 3D CAD Packages.
Qualified to HNC or Degree level in a relevant Engineering field.
Strong communication skills.
