As a Caretaker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, security, and cleanliness of our school premises. Your commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our students and staff will contribute to the overall success of our school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security and Safety:
- Conduct regular security checks of the school premises, including doors, windows, and gates.
- Ensure all entrances and exits are secure and safe.
- Respond promptly to security alarms and emergencies and liaise with relevant authorities if necessary.
- Implement and maintain fire safety procedures and equipment.
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.
- Address minor repairs promptly and report major maintenance issues to the appropriate authorities.
- Keep records of maintenance and repair work carried out.
- Cleaning and Hygiene:
- Oversee the cleanliness and hygiene of classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas.
- Ensure that cleaning schedules are followed and cleaning supplies are well-stocked.
- Assist with waste management and recycling efforts.
- Groundskeeping:
- Maintain the school grounds, including lawn care, gardening, and snow removal when necessary.
- Ensure the playground equipment is safe and in good working condition.
- Report any hazards or damage to outdoor facilities.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Implement health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and take appropriate measures to minimize risks.
- Keep records of health and safety checks and inspections.
- Supervision and Teamwork:
- Work closely with other staff members, including the school leadership team.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors when necessary.
- Provide support during school events and activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in a caretaker, or facilities management role, in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Basic maintenance skills in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
- A commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
