As Director of Production (Fabrication), you will take a strategic and hands-on role in overseeing all aspects of fabrication production, driving performance, and ensuring we continue to meet our exceptional standards.You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Human Resources Assistants, Production Planners, Production Managers, 4-5 Supervisors and Circa 70 Workshop Operatives as well as ensuring production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely.This company prides itself on being industry leaders in high-integrity fabrication, welding, and tube manipulation.   • Oversee all workshop activity, including: platers, fitters, tube manipulators, welders, general operatives, and apprentices
  • Ensure smooth progression of work packages and delivery of production targets
  • Manage workshop load planning, capacity, and scheduling across multiple projects
  • Liaise regularly with customers, QA, NDT, and Commercial teams
  • Provide leadership on health & safety, quality assurance, and compliance standards
  • Lead and implement succession planning and training for staff and apprentices

The person

  • Strong fabrication and welding bias with experience in tube/plate fabrication
  • Able to confidently read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
  • A proven leader, able to manage multidisciplinary teams and liaise with all levels of the organisation
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Comfortable taking initiative and operating with a high level of autonomy
  • Experience working in a heavy engineering/manufacturing SME environment
