Job Title: Production Shift Supervisor
Location: Walsall, WS2 9SL initially then moving to WS10 7DE
Annual Salary: 34,000
Contract: Permanent

Shift Pattern & Start Times:
Initially the shift's confirmed are 0600 to 1415 OR 13:45 to 22:00 Monday - Friday. These shifts will change to Monday to Weds (0545 to 18:15) OR Thursday to Saturday (05:45 to 18:15).

Manpower is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Shift Supervisor to join our client based in Walsall/Wednesbury. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient processing and handling of waste cooking oil within our production facility. Your role will be divided into two main parts:

Part 1: Shift Supervision
You will manage the shift, ensuring safety, security, and operational efficiency across the entire site. This will include overseeing personnel, plant operations, processes, and the security of the facility from gate to gate.

Part 2: Production Operations
In addition to supervision, you will actively participate in the production process by loading and unloading ovens, as well as feeding waste cooking oil into the production line for distribution.

Your role will be critical in ensuring smooth operations, maintaining production efficiency, and guaranteeing the timely delivery of products to our customers.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
Health and Safety:

  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and procedures while handling waste cooking oil.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and always follow safety protocols.

Quality Control:

  • Ensure that regular quality checks on incoming and outgoing products loads are taking place to ensure compliance with quality standards and that the material is within the specifications of the purchaser & Lifecycle Oils.
  • Report any variance, issues, or damages promptly.

Supervision:

  • In liaison with the shift Manager, you will ensure that team members are allocated tasks and that all positions on the production site are covered for the shift and that colleagues are trained and briefed in the position that they are being utilised.
  • You will monitor throughput and ensure records are being kept of that day's production.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other production operatives and team members to achieve daily operational goals efficiently and effectively.
  • Through monitoring you will ensure the team are achieving production goals and act to deliver improvements where required

Environmental Compliance:

  • Follow regulations for handling and disposing of waste cooking oil in an environmentally responsible manner.

Production & Warehouse Organisation:

  • Keep the facilities clean, organised, and free from any hazards using both clean as you go and deep cleaning technics.
  • Be open to working in shifts or extended hours as per the operational needs of the production.
  • Utilise mechanical handling equipment (MHE) to safely load, unload, and move waste cooking oil containers around the production facility. Adhere to MHE safety protocols and conduct routine equipment inspections.
  • Delivery of the shift production plan and associated activities
  • Production process preparations to facilitate incoming/ongoing shift throughputs.


We are looking for a qualified candidate with a strong background in production activities, particularly in the liquid industry. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience safely executing production activities and following safety guidelines/protocols
  • Experience of working within a liquid industry
  • A valid Forklift License
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification
  • Numeracy and literacy skills (minimum GCSE grade B in Maths and English)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading small teams within standalone processing facilities
  • Background in production and warehouse operations
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • A clear understanding of maintaining an orderly workspace, ensuring efficient product storage and accessibility
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating forklift trucks
