A large secondary school is recruiting for a Maths/Science Teacher to teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the potential for Key Stage 5 for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mathematical background and a solid understanding of scientific principles, enabling them to enrich lessons with cross-curricular knowledge. You will be responsible for creating engaging and challenging lessons that inspire students to achieve their full potential in both mathematics and science-related topics.
The school has received a "Good" rating from Ofsted in its last three inspections, with the most recent one in January 2023. Its core values of wisdom, service, endurance, and hope are deeply embedded in the school's culture. There are strong, positive relationships between staff and students, with staff having a deep understanding of their pupils' needs and pupils feeling well-supported. The ideal candidate:
- Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A degree in Maths or a closely related subject.
- Experience teaching Maths / Science at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience is a bonus).
- Passionate about inspiring students to love both mathematics and science.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- A commitment to high standards and continuous professional development.
- Have strong experience working within Maths / Science departments
- Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children from all needs and backgrounds
- Have excellent behaviour management skills
- Understand the expectations against the Teachers Standards
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4 (and possibly KS5).
- Incorporate elements of science into mathematics teaching where appropriate to deepen student understanding.
- Use a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students are engaged and make progress.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Foster a positive classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and motivated to learn.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers in the department to share best practices and resources.
- Participate in extracurricular activities and contribute to the wider school community.
- Deliver high-quality Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4 (and possibly KS5).
- Supporting pupils with Special Educational and Health needs
- Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress
