Hays Education is currently seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a special school in the area Bilston, Wolverhampton. The role will involve supporting children with mental health challenges. Simply can offer specialised training for people who have not worked in a school before but have skills from elsewhere that can be transferred into an educational setting. However, you must be able to provide child-related references.The school are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join the team ready for an Easter start. Ideally, the school would like the successful applicant to start before this date.What does your new role entail:

  • Assist the classroom teacher with delivering lessons and supporting pupils with SEN in the classroom.
  • Work with small groups or individual pupils, providing additional support and assistance as required. Help to create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment for pupils with SEN.
  • Attend meetings with parents and other professionals as required to discuss pupils' progress and support needs.
  • Undertake any other duties as required to support the smooth running of the school.
  • Monitor and track pupil progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and other professionals.
  • Support pupils to achieve their full potential, both academically and socially, in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in a special school setting.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students.
  • A proactive approach to learning and professional development.
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to obtain one.
