Field Service Engineer | Ideally be based in the West Midlands area | Full Time | £25,000 to £35,000 per annum as a basic salary, depending on experience
Our client is an engineering company based in the West Midlands, established in 2002. They predominantly operate in the field of power presses, coil handling equipment and automation systems. One of their primary specialities is the design & integration of machine control & safety systems, ranging from minor guarding / safety upgrades to complete machine rewires. Whether it be a modern multi press transfer line or an old ring frame machine, they have the capability to design, manufacture & integrate a new state-of-the-art control & safety system to bring your press shop equipment into line with the latest UK & EU safety standards.
Their customers today range from small companies with one or two machines up to multinational corporations. To date our client has provided their services, either directly or in the supply chain, to Toyota, Honda, Nissan, BMW, Ford, Lear, JLR, Sharp, Sony, Phillips, IBM & Compaq, to name but a few.
The successful candidate will have a background in mechanical engineering and be familiar with the operation of basic mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with power presses, automation and safety systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out site work including installation, commissioning and servicing of a variety of machines, both working as part of a multi-skilled engineering team and independently on their own initiative.
Are you the right person for the job?
- Work as a member of our team to install, commission and service a variety of sheet metal working equipment
- Understanding of general mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems in manufacturing machinery
- An understanding of electrical controls, PLCs and the ability to read circuit diagrams would be a great advantage
- Have a full UK driving licence and be willing to work on customers' sites throughout the UK (and, on occasion other EU countries). This would entail overnight stays when working on a large project (on average, this would be approximately 4 to 5 nights per month spent away from home)
What will your role look like?
- Installation, commissioning & servicing of new & used equipment, including power presses, coil feed lines, automation equipment, tool protection/monitoring systems and other press ancillary equipment
- Breakdown callout to fault find/diagnose problems reported by customers and make repairs as required
