The Role

As a Team Leader in Childrens Residential Care, you will work in a 9-bed residential home, located in a supportive community in Walsall Wood. You will support children and young people with moderate to severe learning and physical disabilities, some with acquired brain injuries, sensory impairments, and complex care needs.

In this hands-on, shift-based role, you will:

  • Lead and supervise shifts, supporting and guiding team members
  • Provide direct care and support to children and young people
  • Work closely with management to create a safe and nurturing environment
  • Encourage positive experiences and personal growth for the children

Shift Details:

  • 40 hours per week, including weekends and approx. 1 sleep-in shift weekly

Skills & Qualifications

To succeed in this Team Leader role, you should have:

  • QCF Level 3 in Childrens Residential Care or NVQ 3 Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Workforce
  • At least 2 years experience in a residential setting
  • Ideally, working towards an NVQ Level 5 Diploma
  • Strong understanding of childrens home regulations and care plans
  • Experience supporting children with learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, and behavioural challenges

You should also be:

  • An excellent communicator, capable of handling various situations calmly
  • Experienced in shift-leading, delegating tasks, and supervising staff
  • Self-motivated, caring, and a supportive team player with a passion for making a positive impact

A full driving license is ideal, as you may need to help transport children for outings and appointments.
