A forward-thinking specialist academy in Walsall is seeking Student Support Workers to join its dedicated team, helping to provide exceptional care, education, and life opportunities to students aged 11–19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).

As a Student Support Worker, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day support of students—helping them engage in learning, develop communication and life skills, and experience success through a highly individualized, sensory-based approach. The work is meaningful, impactful, and deeply rewarding.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Providing 1:1 or small group support to students with complex needs.

Assisting with communication, personal care, physical needs, and sensory integration.

Adapting learning resources and activities to meet individual needs and abilities.

Working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to support holistic development.

Using strategies that promote emotional regulation, independence, and confidence.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:

Has experience working with young people who have SLD, ASC, or PMLD (or a similar background in care, support, or SEN education).

Demonstrates a calm, caring, and adaptable approach to support.

Understands the importance of non-verbal communication, sensory needs, and structured routines.

Is willing to support with personal care and physical support where necessary.

Holds a DBS on the Update Service or is happy to undergo a new DBS check.
