Smart Education is currently recruiting for a Speech and Language Therapist to work across a specialist school setting in Walsall. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young people aged 7 to 18, all of whom have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). The school caters to a diverse range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), and Visual Impairments (VI).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage your own caseload, ensuring coverage of EHCP targets and student needs.
  • Develop and implement Total Communication strategies, including AAC (high and low tech).
  • Conduct informal and formal assessments and deliver 1:1, group, and class-based interventions.
  • Support the application of Zones of Regulation throughout the school.
  • Offer evidence and support for Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) targets and educational tribunals.
  • Build and nurture solid working relationships with staff and students.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and parents/carers to ensure a holistic approach.
  • Reflect and develop practices through protected time for liaison and continuous professional development.

What We're Looking For:•    HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.•    Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy.•    Experience working with children and young people with SEND, particularly those with ASD, SLCN, SpLD, and VI.•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, families, and professionals.•    Ability to create and implement effective therapy plans tailored to individual needs.•    Knowledge of relevant legislation related to SEND, safeguarding, and EHCPs.•    Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as travel between sites may be required.
