Our client is seeking an experienced Machinist who excels as a team player and can work independently.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of engineering tasks efficiently, accurately, and to a high standard, with a focus on machining and general assembly (fitting) tasks.
- Ensure you and your coworkers work safely and in accordance with relevant risk assessments.
- Maintain your workplace in a clean, neat, and tidy condition, free of trip hazards, fire risks, and falling objects.
- Keep all tools and equipment in good order, identifying faults immediately, and removing items from service if necessary.
- Maintain all personal protective equipment in clean and good condition, addressing any faults immediately.
- Conduct yourself in a polite, courteous, and professional manner at all times.
- Undertake required works on client sites, including occasional travel and overtime as reasonably required by the company directors.
Key Skills:
- Possess a good understanding of mechanical engineering principles
- An eye for detail and high quality workmanship
- Able to understand and follow technical drawings and specifications
- The ability to solve mechanical fitting and assembly issues in a workshop setting as well as customer premises
- Commercial awareness of costs and working to timescales
- Complete machining and fabrication of parts to a precise and high standard.
- Familiarity of hand and air tools
- Experience with bench craft (marking out, filing, and shaping), general machining (drilling & sawing), use of power hand tools (drilling, grinding, and sawing), fitting thread helicoils & rivnuts, using adhesives as detailed within drawings and SOP's.
- Precision machine parts in various materials
- Able to use standard manual measuring devices such as verniers, DTI's, calipers, micrometers, plain plug, screw and ring gauges, gauge blocks and bespoke gauges/fixtures
- Fabrication and CNC machining using turning and milling machines, presses, centre lathe, milling, grinding & polishing.
- The ability to set up and adjust machine tools for use, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
