OPAL Play Coordinator required for Primary School in Waltham Cross

About the role:

This OPAL Play Coordinator role is based in an ambitious and thriving primary school in Waltham Cross. They are looking to recruit an enthusiastic activity leader for the role after Easter.

This role will give someone a brilliant opportunity to become involved in the shaping of valuable, positive and enriching play experiences for all our pupils during lunchtimes.

As an OPAL Play Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the team of Play Leaders
  • Liaising with the Curricular Lead for Play (a member of teaching staff)
  • Lead on the setting up, organisation and tidying away of resources for the children to use daily
  • Maintain and replenish resources
  • Provide support and training for other school staff
  • Lead support and supervise the promotion of positive and creative play at lunchtime in line with the opal practice and ethos

This is a full-time role (8.40am - 3.15pm) which includes a 30 minute lunch break to be taken outside of the children’s lunch period.

  • Experience of, or a background in play-work would be beneficial but not essential
  • Experience of OPAL would also be beneficial but not essential

The ideal candidate:

  • A degree in any subject or a qualification in education
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about helping children reach their academic potential
  • Proficient numeracy and literacy skills with a passion for activities
  • Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
