Salary: £41,600 per annum

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm / 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

A reputable general haulage company in Preston is seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join their team. This role involves hands-on maintenance of the fleet of vehicles. The ideal candidate will have the technical expertise necessary to maintain a small fleet of HGVs and ensure their reliability and safety.

Essential Skills:

  • Level 3 qualification for vehicle sign-off is required.
  • Proven experience in HGV maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently without managerial oversight.
  • Class 1 driving license is desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems is essential, with HGV experience being a top priority.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain a fleet of HGVs.
  • Conduct regular services, MOT preparation, and six-weekly vehicle inspections.
  • Perform ad-hoc repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with health and safety standards.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform inspections on rigid HGVs.
  • Maintain accurate records of all services and repairs.
  • Sign off work and documentation (Level 3 qualification required).
  • Implement preventative maintenance routines.
  • Safely use all tools and equipment.
  • Accurately interpret outputs from vehicle diagnostic equipment in line with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and ensure documentation is fully completed.
  • Diagnose and rectify any faults that arise.
  • Identify and order parts as necessary.
