Pay rate: £28.85 - £37 ph / Umbrella rate : £32.33 - £41.53 ph depending on experience

Hours: 37 hours per week

Job Description:

• To be the UK’s VPAG (Voluntary Pricing, Access and Growth) expert - The UK Government’s Voluntary Pricing, Access, and Growth (VPAG) Scheme is designed to ensure that patients have access to innovative and cost-effective medicines. The scheme involves pharmaceutical companies voluntarily agreeing to cap the growth of their revenues from NHS sales. In return, these companies benefit from predictable pricing and access to the NHS market. The scheme aims to balance the need for affordable medicines with the industry’s need for a sustainable business environment that encourages innovation and growth. 

• The VPAG & Pricing controller manages all aspects of scheme reporting including compliance with scheme rules, the provision of budget and forecast information to UK business and reporting to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

• Support the Market Operations lead with ad hoc audit and commercial analysis and reporting.

Key Accountabilities:

• Maintain a detailed and thorough understanding of VPAG to ensure the company is always compliant and act as SME to other colleagues.

• Liaise with Business Finance Leads and other relevant cross functional teams to obtain actual and forecast sales and unit data along with other relevant information such as enhanced discount schemes, competitor stock outs, private hospitals, clinical trial sales, export sales, private prescriptions etc, to calculate the actual and forecast VPAG liability.

• Produce clear management reporting of the VPAG position and ensure all necessary accounting provisions are booked.

• Complete DHSC reporting (based on calendar year) including Quarterly VPAS Payment Sales Report and Annual VPAG Payment Sales Report, which must reconcile to the audited statutory accounts.

• Ensure quarterly VPAG payments are made within 1 month of each calendar quarter end.

• Complete and submit the unaudited Annual Presentation sales return.

• Liaise with auditors and ensure the timely delivery of audit data requirements.

• Communicate with the DHSC regarding price changes, managing new product pricing in collaboration with commercial teams/ Health & Value and VPAG information requests.

• Respond to all DHSC requests on a timely basis.

• Assist the Financial Controller with US GAAP and UK GAAP audits and reporting including analytical reviews of legal entities and other ad hoc activities.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience: 

• Qualified accountant (or equivalent) with at least 5 years post qualification commercial experience, preferably gained in the pharmaceutical industry.

• Demonstrated success of assimilating and interpreting complex documentation.

• Experience of working in a complex matrix organisation is an advantage.
