Payroll Administrator

  • Location: Walton on Thames, Surrey
  • Hours: 37.5 hours ( flexible on start and finish times between 07.30- 18.00pm)
  • Pay rate: £13.85- £15.38 per hour PAYE or £17.13- £19.09 per hour via an umbrella company
  • Job Type: Temporary for 3 months- 100% office based
  • Start: Ideally before Christmas.

I am working on behalf of a prestigious company who are looking for recruit a temporary Payroll Administrator, where you will work closely with the Payroll Manager and team to deliver a comprehensive and first-class payroll service for our group and its 1,200+ employees. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in payroll and data entry, who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to excellence in their work.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support the Payroll team in all relevant areas of payroll processing.
  • Process all new starters on Access, ensuring documentation such as Right to Work and signed contracts are accurately recorded.
  • Maintain strict data security and confidentiality standards.
  • Provide cover for the Payroll team during absences.
  • Maintain good health and safety awareness and adhere to all organisational guidelines and rules as outlined in the staff handbook.
  • Manage accurate data entries on Access and maintain the payroll system’s absence calendar.
  • Liaise with HR, site administrators, and department heads to ensure smooth operation and maintenance of staff records.
  • Address any operational issues by referring them to the Payroll Manager.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in payroll processing and data entry.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including functions like XLOOKUP and VLOOKUP.
  • Experience with the Access system is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Excellent computer literacy, communication skills, and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, flexible, and cooperative attitude, with strong problem-solving and reasoning abilities.
  • Educational background in Payroll/Finance; a Payroll qualification or equivalent is beneficial.
