Are you passionate about making a difference in the life of a child with special educational needs? We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Classroom Assistant - Wantage to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 5 child in Wantage.
About the Classroom Assistant - Wantage Role
Working in this Grove based Primary school, you will support a polite and charming child with ADHD, ASD, and SEMH challenges. While the child is behind academically and occasionally struggles with anger management and engagement, they show great potential when supported effectively. Your role will include delivering tailored 1:1 interventions, supporting timetabled classroom integration, and helping the child develop both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities - Classroom Assistant - Wantage

Build a strong, trusting relationship with the child to foster their confidence and engagement.

Provide 1:1 support during lessons, helping the child access the curriculum effectively.

Deliver tailored interventions focused on academic and emotional development.

Facilitate the KS2 child's integration into whole-class activities, promoting social skills and inclusion.

Implement strategies to support anger management/challenging behaviour and maintain positive behavior.

Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to adapt learning plans and track progress.

Communicate regularly with parents and carers, providing updates on progress and well-being.

About You

Patient, understanding, and skilled in supporting children with SEN, particularly ADHD, ASD, and SEMH.

Able to maintain a calm demeanor when managing challenging situations.

Proactive, flexible, and committed to helping the child reach their full potential.

Experienced in working within a primary school setting (preferred).

Knowledgeable about strategies for supporting emotional regulation and engagement.
