About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our mainstream primary school. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and be passionate about supporting their learning and development. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support to students with SEN, ensuring that all children can access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, helping them engage with classroom activities and the curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher to implement personalized learning plans, adapting materials and activities as needed.
  • Support students with a range of needs, including learning difficulties, speech and language delays, autism spectrum conditions, and physical or sensory impairments.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Monitor student progress, offering feedback to the teacher and contributing to reviews and assessments.
  • Help manage behavior in line with the school's policies, using positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and independent learning skills.
  • Provide personal care to students when necessary (e.g., toileting, feeding).
  • Attend relevant training and professional development sessions related to SEN.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs.
  • Understanding of SEN strategies and interventions.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced school environment.
  • A relevant qualification in education, SEN, or childcare (desirable).
