A teaching assistant is needed for a special educational needs (SEN) school in North London for primary and secondary school students aged 7-16.

As a teaching assistant, you will be working with students with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) who have found mainstream education challenging and may have significant gaps in their education.

Your responsibilities as a teaching assistant may include:

  • Assisting lesson delivery for students with a range of learning difficulties and complex needs. This may include alternative teaching methods, such as Lego therapy and intensive interaction sessions.
  • Helping students to develop confidence and independence.
  • Implementing behaviour management techniques, which may include physical restraints, to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Working with specialist teaching services, medical staff, counsellors, and psychologists
  • Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
  • Establishing rapport and communicating regularly with parents and carers.
