The Wantage based school has a significant focus on restorative practices, positive re-enforcement as well as Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. This is therefore an ideal role for an aspiring Forensic, Clinical or Educational Psychologist, as well as aspiring Youth and Criminal Justice Officers.

You will learn about their individual needs and adapt your approach in the classroom to suit them. As a Aspiring Psychologist! - SEN Teaching Assistant, you will learn about the cognitive, behavioural and emotional needs of each student and how to attend to these. You will help identify triggers and barriers to learning, as well as implementing your knowledge of psychological theory and apply it in the classroom. This may be in small groups or on a 1-2-1 basis. Above all else, you will help ensure every pupil feels safe and supported in school, and help make the classroom a fun and exciting place!

The Wantage Primary School are ideally looking for:

  • Experience working with ASD in any setting
  • Confidence to work with challenging behaviour
  • Team teach training or similar
  • Experience working with non-verbal ASD &/or high functioning
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE's in Maths and English - C or above)
  • Good communication skills
