Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Wantage

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic primary school in Wantage. This is a fantastic role for an experienced and qualified HLTA who is ready to take on greater responsibilities and make a significant impact on students' learning and development.

Pay: £83.50 - £90 per day, term-time only.

Key Responsibilities for the Higher Level Teaching Assistant:

  • Support class teachers in the delivery of high-quality lessons and activities.
  • Lead small group or 1:1 interventions to support the learning of students, particularly those with SEN.
  • Assist in planning and preparing lesson resources, ensuring all materials are ready for the lesson.
  • Supervise and support students during class activities, ensuring engagement and focus.
  • Provide regular feedback to the class teacher on student progress, highlighting areas for development.
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour, promoting positive learning environments.
  • Help monitor and assess student performance, contributing to progress reports.
  • Support students with additional needs, ensuring they have access to the same learning opportunities as their peers.
  • Take on teaching responsibilities for the class teacher during their absence, including delivering lessons and managing the classroom.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings and training sessions to enhance your professional development.

What We're Looking For:

  • A Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience working in a primary school setting, ideally with KS1/KS2 pupils.
  • Strong understanding of the national curriculum and teaching strategies.
  • Experience in providing targeted support to students with SEN (dyslexia, ADHD, autism, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
