This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Software Engineering Manager, to join an historic British icon at the forefront of Engineering, during an interesting period of technical transformation.

The Role

The Software Engineering Manager will act as the bridge between Design Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and other technical users, and the technology world, to understand needs and incorporate them into a clear software roadmap, to ultimately design, develop and maintain the software and computational tools used.  Whilst there are a variety of applications/tools across both web and desktop, the focus will be on back end/server-side development.

The focus of the Software Engineering Manager will then be to lead and manage a team of talented software engineers to deliver against software projects, whilst strategically and proactively managing a complex software estate, with the development environment comprising Microsoft technologies (C#, .NET), as well as distributed systems, HPC, Cloud computing, and technologies such as Kubernetes and Airflow.

What Experience do I need?

• A solid background in software engineering, with proven experience of leading and developing teams
• Experience of working within smaller teams/companies requiring flexibility and agility is preferred
• Any experience gained from working within Engineering, or other technical environments would be of benefit
• Any experience of championing cloud-native development and leading transformation and cloud migration projects would be advantageous
• A breadth of technical experience encompassing technologies such as C#.NET, HPC, Kubernetes, Airflow, etc.
