Many Primary schools are experiencing increased levels of their student body having SEN requirements, due to improved diagnoses for SEN and learning difficulties. This is no different for a Primary school in OX12.
Many of the children attending mainstream Primary schools qualify for a SEN provision, however due to limited Government funding there simply is not enough spaces. This is where you come into it!
The OX12 based Primary school NEEDS more Learning Support Assistant - Wantage to join their team. To be adaptive and understand the diverse SEN requirements in varying degrees. Some students can manage in a classroom setting, with some additional support form yourself, verses other students requiring 1:1 and potential outside classroom interventions.
Your Learning Support Assistant - Wantage daily duties:
- Collaborating with the KS1/KS2 class teacher and other experienced staff members to educate the OX12 pupils.
- Manage challenging behaviours that may arise, training and techniques will be given.
- 1:1 (one-to-one) teaching support, where you may have to adapt the task to the child's needs/interests to communicate the information.
- Identify potential triggers for the pupils in regard to their trauma and mental health needs, be able to offer an alternative focus to calm down the KS1/KS2 Student(s).
Learning Support Assistant - Wantage experience:
- Working with children (eg. Tutoring): 1 year (preferred)
Qualifications:
- GCSE (must have Maths and English) - Minimum grade 4/C (required)
- 2:1 degree (Psychology, Sociology and Criminology (preferred, not required)
- SEN certifications (preferred, not required)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
