As the Literacy and Numeracy Support Specialist, you will provide tailored, focused support to help a Year 2 student bridge the gap between their current academic level (Reception level) and their current Year 2 targets. You will play a crucial role in improving their focus and engagement in literacy and numeracy through creative, student-centered approaches. The student has challenges with engagement in their Literacy and Maths classes, often presenting in outburst in the class.

Your Literacy and Numeracy Support Specialist responsibilities will include:
- Delivering highly personalised 1:1 support sessions that make learning engaging, accessible, and fun.
- Using innovative strategies to build the Wantage student's confidence and sustain their focus in literacy and numeracy tasks.
- Implementing structured activities and scaffolding learning to ensure steady progress in core skills such as reading, writing, and basic mathematics.
- Breaking down concepts into manageable steps while adapting your approach to match the student's unique learning style.
- Encouraging self-regulation and fostering independence through positive reinforcement and consistency.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and the SENCO to align your strategies with the broader support plan and learning objectives.
- Celebrating every achievement-big or small-to boost the student's self-esteem and love of learning.
The ideal Wantage candidate will:
- Be passionate about supporting children with ASD, ADHD, or additional learning needs.
- Have a sound understanding of literacy and numeracy development at the Reception to Year 2 level.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, patience, and adaptability.
- Use creative methods to make learning engaging and meaningful.
- Have previous experience working with children with SEN (desirable).
