Are you a Junior Accountant, experienced Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper that’s looking for a flexible role with the opportunity to support a range of leading local businesses?

We are working with an expanding, modern and forward thinking firm of accountants based in Hertfordshire that is looking for the next addition to their team.

Following continued growth and client demand the team are looking for an experienced professional to come on board to support both the Directors and the wider team with various tasks such as VAT returns, payroll processing and accounts preparation.

The team are open on the hours and working structure of this role as they are able to consider someone on a part time or full time basis, plus offer flexible / hybrid working to their staff.

This a perfect opportunity for someone with prior experience in a similar role that’s looking for a position with an established local business, that values work life balance and has a supportive culture.

Key responsibilities of this Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper role are likely to include;

  • Preparing sole trader and partnership accounts and their tax returns
  • Preparing limited company accounts to trial balance
  • Preparation and filing of VAT returns
  • Preparation of self assessment tax returns
  • Processing payroll for various clients (including CIS) and deal with Auto-Enrolment
  • Regularly liaise directly with clients to collate information and answer their queries
  • Bookkeeping and bank reconciliations
  • Assist with other ad hoc duties as required

You

  • Qualified by experience, although an accounting qualification such as AAT would be advantageous
  • Experience of working in an Accountancy Practice environment is desirable
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of modern accounting packages such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Taxcalc and Brightpay
  • Driven and focused with the ability to work alone as well as part of a team
