If you’re reading this you will probably know that Floods can cause a lot of problems for people and properties. This is your chance to help prevent this.

You’ll be looking at Flood Risk Assessments and Sustainable drainage design for new developments across the south of England; detailing how best to mitigate the flood risk and prevent damage, and ensuring that the risk is not being increased downstream, or directed onsite .

Most types of developments outside the Environment Agency Flood Zone 1, or over 1ha in size, will require a Flood Risk Assessment. So there is plenty of work.

You'' be working with data, using drainage modelling software, preparing reports, and assisting with on-site surveys.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT…

Full training is provided, and you will be learning from good people: the Director for the team has over 25 years’ experience and the team- leader has 20+ years’ experience. So there is loads you can learn from them.

You’re not just a number, you are a valued individual, and the directors are always looking for ways to help you progress your career. Other graduates have joined the team and are doing very well.

There will also be the opportunity to gain experience in the Transport and Highways part of the company if you are interested in doing so.

THE TEAM…

The team also has a senior engineer and two engineers, supported by administrative staff.

Everyone within the team is very approachable and are always willing to help each another out. The office has a very laid-back feeling (but with a professional and productive approach), making it an enjoyable place of work. There is a mix of ages, and a great atmosphere.

WHERE YOU WILL BE WORKING…

Based in a small village in Hertfordshire, near the border of Essex, the offices are easy to reach by train, bus or car (there is onsite parking). There is also a Cycle to work Scheme. Commutable from areas including Hoddesdon, Broxbourne, Hertford, Welwyn, Harlow, Bishops Stortford, Barnet, Enfield, and Stevenage. And there are train links from Tottenham Hale.

After the initial settling in period, you can work from home up to 2 days a week, and have flexible working hours (if you choose to).

WHAT YOU NEED…

You should have good written, communication and analytical skills.

A Geography, Environmental Science, Flood, or Civil Engineering degree would be ideal.
