Contract:Permanent- Monday to Friday - Term Time Only
Working Hours: 34 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time (43.6weeks per annum), 8.45am to 3.45pm with 30 minutes lunch break, including one after-school club per week 3.30pm to 5.15pm.
We are currently recruiting Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school in Warewho caters for pupils with severe learning difficulties aged between 2 and 19 years who may have singular or multiple difficulties, including challenging behaviour and complex needs.
It is not essential that you have experience working as a Teaching Assistant to apply for this role. Our client will consider any applicant who has worked in care or with children.
The school enjoys a very good relationship with parents, families, associated professionals and the local community. The school also enjoys an excellent range of resources and provision, making learning possible and education fun.
Duties to include (but are not limited to)
Attend to pupils personal needs, including social health, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
Provide clerical/administrative support to the assigned teacher, e.g. photocopying, typing, filing and record keeping
Assist with the planning and delivery of individual education plans (or other pupil-specific plans)
Monitor and evaluate pupils progress and maintain pupil records
Use specialist knowledge or experience to support pupils learning
Liaise with parents, carers, and professional staff (such as educational psychologists) in order to promote the learning objectives of each pupil
Use initiative to develop and implement actions that will promote the integration of the pupil with his/her peers
Candidate qualities and experience:
To be willing and able to work towards getting any relevant qualifications, attending training and to take responsibility for your own development.
Be able to adapt your communication style and be able to develop skills to suit the needs of the children and young people you are working with
Be able and willing to support students in the water during swimming or hydrotherapy activities
Able to work supportively as a team member and confidentially when working independently, within a range of settings
Able to understand, interpret and deliver effective education and care and support plans based on a need led approach
