Job Advert: Teaching Assistant - Permanent Role

We are working closely with a dedicated and inclusive school that caters to pupils aged 2 to 19 years with a range of severe learning difficulties, including both singular and multiple challenges. We are currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team on a permanent basis.
About the Role: As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the learning and development of our pupils under the guidance of the Class Teacher. The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive and experienced team, assisting with various activities throughout the school. This will include supporting classroom activities, providing one-on-one or small group support, and assisting with personal care needs where required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of the curriculum, tailoring support to individual pupil needs.
- Work collaboratively with the Class Teacher and other professionals in the school.
- Assist with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and dressing.
- Participate in swimming activities with pupils at least once a week.
- Help maintain a safe, stimulating, and engaging learning environment.
- Attend and support after-school club once a week from 3.30pm to 5.15pm.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with severe learning difficulties.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, are desirable but not essential.
- A compassionate and patient approach, with a strong desire to support the development of children with complex needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from the Class Teacher.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life, including swimming sessions.
Working Hours:
- 34 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, term time only (43.6 weeks per year)
- 8.45am to 3.45pm (including a 30-minute lunch break)
- One after-school club per week (3.30pm to 5.15pm)
Salary:
- 19,000 - 19,500 per annum actual salary (depending on experience and qualifications)
