Accounts Assistant

Our client is growing, well established company who are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their friendly, but busy office based in Ware.

Perfect Accounts Assistant opportunity for a candidate with all round experience who lives locally to Ware and is happy to be in the office 5 days a week.

The ideal Accounts Assistant candidate will have 3 years experience and be looking to develop and progress.

The key day to duties will be as follows:

  • Assist with a range of reporting including management accounts, overhead accounts, balance sheets, reconciliations, prepayments and accruals, posting journals
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly VAT returns and identifying any errors
  • Carrying out reviews of council tax, business rates, utility bills and other costs
  • Sales and Purchase ledger overview
  • Accurately entering data of invoices, ensuring correct nominal coding and VAT treatment
  • ]Ensuring authorisation procedures for purchase invoices are followed
  • Setting up and maintaining supplier accounts
  • Liaising with colleagues and suppliers to resolve any invoice queries
  • Completing reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Accurate coding of the AP invoices onto the system
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all financial information
  • Preparing and entering journals into the system
  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties

Skills

  • Good spoken and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ideally knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, v-look ups) and Word
  • Confident, approachable and team orientated
  • Show initiative and prepared to change working practice

The Accounts Assistant role is 5 days a week in the office with the hours 9-5pm.

This role would suit someone who is looking to progress and develop in the future.

The ideal candidate will have all round accounts experience and be looking to take a step up and work alongside a Financial Controller and a small team.
