As the Group Financial Controller, you could be a key member of the senior finance leadership team, overseeing external financial reporting, audits, and statutory accounts. Group Financial Controller will lead the consolidation of accounts, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.

Mainly working from home; while there will be a requirement to be in an office in Dorset, the company would look to make the role as virtual as possible. They typically work 8.30 am until 5.00 pm, however there is lots of flexibility to allow for appointments, school pick up/drop etc.

The main criteria for the Group Financial Controller are below, and we are looking for a technical accounting expert.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Oversee audit processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
    • Manage external audits and maintain relationships with professional advisors
    • Prepare and review group’s consolidated statutory accounts
    • Lead group management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
    • Drive development of financial planning and consolidation systems
    • Provide expert advice on accounting policies and practices
    • Manage fixed asset accounting and review accounting processes for efficiency
    • Lead and motivate the financial accounts team, driving continuous improvement
    • Represent senior finance leadership at group panels and boards

    Experience & Qualifications:

    • Extensive senior management experience in technical accounting
    • Expertise in group consolidation accounting, FRS102, and joint ventures
    • Experience of preparing yearend financial statements
    • Proficiency in managing external audits for large groups of companies
    • Desirable: Knowledge of the social housing sector, corporation tax, and VAT regulations
    • Strong leadership and relationship management skills
    • Advanced IT proficiency, particularly in Excel
