Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Specialist SchoolLocation: Caterham, SurreySalary: Actual salary £21,995.67 - £23,514.45 dependant on experience and qualifications Plus £1000 Welcome bonus *Hours: 40 hours per week, Term time only Monday to FridayWe are currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Caterham, Surrey supporting students aged 11-16 years old who have difficulties with communication and social interaction, typically associated with Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism, and challenging behaviour.The role:As Teaching Assistant, your role is to support our children with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.Key Duties:
  • To establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the School.
  • To promote and encourage independence and personal development
  • Support the Class Teacher in all areas of the day to day running of the class
  • To respond to the varying and changing needs of the school and adapt to any task presented to achieve the smooth running of the school. Some physical intervention may be needed upon occasion, full training on this will be provided.
  • To promote pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being.
Experience /Qualifications:
  • GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Level 3 / Grade C or equivalent is essential.
  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of working in a special school environment is highly desirable.
  • Team TEACH Training- desirable
