The purpose of this role is to support the generation of new, innovative products whilst looking to develop and improve existing product lines, providing solutions for customer challenges whilst driving improved margins for the business.
Working with various stakeholders, this role will assist the re-engineering of existing products, using CAD to develop designs from concept to launch.The Product Design Engineer will also provide graphical and technical support across the entire product range.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support of all new product design innovations from concept to launch, ensuring these are successfully manufactured to design specifications and technically documented.
- Work with internal & external parties (including suppliers & customers) to successfully communicate solutions, for example, the production and presentation of technical drawings
- Communicate ideas quickly and effectively using a combination of sketching, CAD layouts, 3D models and working prototypes to evaluate potential solutions
- Create new product designs/moulding designs and enhance existing products with the use of CAD.
Candidate Specification
- HNC/Degree level qualification in Product Design (or equivalent)
- Great problem solver with a creative and innovative eye for design
- Software: Proficient in Solid Works, 3D & 2D CAD
- Team player who is able to collaborate effectively and work across multiple departments
- Experience in a manufacturing environment an advantage
- Strong communication skills and be able to articulate concepts and proposals
- A blend of creativity and technical knowledge is crucial in this position
