Management Accountant

Warrington

£35,000 - £40,000 + study support

This is a brilliant role to join a growing business in an industry that is busy, thriving and one that keeps you on your toes. Joining a small finance team, you will report directly into the Group Financial controller where you will play a vital role in their finance function, covering financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and cost analysis.

Your Responsibilities

  • Prepare Monthly Management Accounts
  • Project Costing: Ensure project costs are allocated correctly, identifying and explaining budget variances.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in financial planning, working closely with key stakeholders to refine budget processes.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor and forecast cash flow, implementing strategies for financial stability.
  • Compliance & Accuracy: Maintain accurate financial records, managing month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Cost Control: Lead cost-efficiency initiatives and identify areas for financial optimisation.
  • VAT & Taxation: Prepare VAT returns across all group companies.
  • Process Improvement: Support system enhancements, automation, and integration of new financial technologies.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work alongside Commercial, Operations, and Procurement teams to enhance financial insights and reporting.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a small finance team, fostering professional development.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience: At least three years in a similar role.
  • Industry Knowledge: Utilities sector experience is advantageous but not required.
  • Qualifications: Actively studying towards your ACCA/CIMA qualification.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Leadership Ability: Proven experience in managing and coaching a small team.
  • Adaptability: A proactive mindset to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
