  • Responsibilities include managing temporary works, conducting structural assessments, and ensuring design coordination.
  • Experience in leading technical teams and familiarity with National Grid specifications is preferred, along with a full UK driving license.

We are working with a top tier construction company who are looking to employ a Design Manager on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the business as Designated Individual for Temporary Works according to BS 5975 and carry out all related duties such as procedure management, staff appointments, sub-contractor reviews etc
  • Capable with use of Finite Element Analysis to conduct structural assessments
  • Capable of creating 2D and 3D models/drawings using relevant software (AutoCAD, Inventor)
  • Ensure that all aspects of the design are fully co-ordinated
  • Monitor changes from Clients, design consultants, subcontractors and proposed changes by the construction team
  • Organise and manage regular technical coordination workshops, Package Reviews and Design Team Meetings
  • Ensure translation of the conceptual scheme into an efficient and workable commercial solution

What do we need from you?

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working and delivering design solutions from first principles
  • MEng/MSc in relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Structural, Civil)
  • Charted Engineer with relevant institution
  • Experience in leading technical teams
  • Ideally experienced as Design / Engineering Manager previously.
  • Ideally familiar with and experience working to National Grid / Cadent / SGN / NGN specifications and design procedures such as BS 5975, Eurocodes etc.
  • Willing to travel – Full UK Driving License is essential
