Warrington Council are looking for two dedicated Caretakers to join their team for the next 3 months, with the possibility of extension. This role involves key holding duties, ensuring buildings are opened and closed safely and on time for business use, and providing a comprehensive caretaking service within the departments.
Day-to-day of the role:- Responsible for the secure unlocking and locking of buildings at the start and end of each day, managing lights, windows, and alarm settings.
- Conduct various building checks, maintain accurate records, and report findings and faults using established procedures.
- Provide direct support in emergency situations including fire, bomb threats, and other incidents.
- Monitor maintenance contractors within the building to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Carry out minor repairs to fixtures and fittings and handle the receipt and distribution of deliveries.
- Perform portering duties and collaborate with employees, contractors, and third-party services.
- Assist with storage management requests and support confidential waste collections.
- Assemble and disassemble furniture as required and support with the relocation of office furniture/equipment.
- Maintain caretaking equipment and storage areas in a clean, tidy, and safe condition.
- Undertake cleaning duties as directed, including entrance glass cleaning, litter picking, and carpet cleaning.
- Provide a flexible approach to work shifts to ensure buildings are opened and closed as required.
- Experience in a caretaking or similar role preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and handle minor repairs.
- Must be physically fit and healthy, as you will be required to lift heavy items
- General maintenance work such as changing bulbs, putting together furniture and taking it apart.
- General cleaning tasks, including tidying and cleaning rooms of waste and removing moss off the roofs
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Current Shifts are Monday to Thursday 6.45am - 14.45pm and 11.00am - 19.00pm, and Fridays are 6.45am - 14.15pm and 11.30am - 19.00pm, this will work on a rota basis
