Category Buyer

Are you passionate about procurement and eager to make a real impact in a fast-paced, innovative company? Our client is looking for a Category Buyer to join our dynamic team, where you'll support the Senior Buyer and Category Manager in managing key business areas. This role is to shape and grow a new non-residential construction category, therefore a background in Construction is essential.
About the Role:
As a Category Buyer, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end procurement activities, building strong supplier and customer relationships, and ensuring compliance with all contractual and procurement regulations. You will play an essential role in increasing spend under management, analysing market data, and delivering exceptional procurement services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead procurement processes and tenders, adhering to departmental and category targets, including EU regulations.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of customer needs and provide strategic advice.
- Manage frameworks, contracts, and supplier relations to ensure commercial success.
- Drive the delivery of services, from mini-competitions to contract management and supplier performance reviews.
- Implement and execute strategies to enhance financial performance and support growth.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to stay ahead of trends and risks.
- Work closely with both internal teams and external suppliers to ensure operational success and customer satisfaction.
- Deliver tendering and procurement processes in line with EU regulations and departmental targets.
- Highlight opportunities and risks to improve procurement activities and outcomes.
- Develop and maintain continuous engagement with suppliers and customers to drive collaboration and resolve disputes.
- Ensure compliance with legal and operational contract requirements.
- Support marketing and communication strategies to promote category plans and sales activities.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience within Construction.
- A proactive, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for problem-solving.
- Experience in procurement, managing contracts, and supplier relationships, particularly in the context of consortium projects.
- A strong knowledge of EU procurement regulations, tendering, and contract processes.
- Analytical and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver results within deadlines.
- A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field is preferred, with a full driving license being desirable.
- Competence in Excel (pivot tables, reporting, and ideally VBA, macros) and the ability to carry out market research and analysis.
