We are seeking a Building Surveyor to join our Property & Estate Management team within the Growth Directorate. This role involves working as part of the Building Services Team on response maintenance work and various elements of planned programmes and capital works. The successful candidate will lead and direct multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver construction, improvement, and refurbishment projects from feasibility to completion.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Lead and direct multi-disciplinary design teams for various construction projects.
  • Carry out and commission a range of surveys, contributing to service level agreements and the annual Building Maintenance Programme.
  • Prepare specifications, tender documentation, and manage the tender process including contract drawings using computer-aided design packages.
  • Oversee project management from inception to completion, including planning applications, building control approval, tendering, and on-site inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external procurement laws, confidentiality, and data protection regulations.
  • Liaise with various stakeholders including council officers, school managers, and external agencies to ensure timely completion of projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a building or construction environment.
  • Proficiency in computer-based programs such as AutoCAD, NBS, NSR, and general office software.
  • Strong project coordination skills and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary building projects.
  • Detailed knowledge of construction, current design standards, cost control, and procurement practices.
  • Relevant qualifications such as ONC/OND or HNC/HND in Building Studies, working towards Chartered Membership of the Institute of Builders or equivalent.
  • Awareness of current construction-related health and safety legislation.
