Your new companyHays Recruitment are happy to be supporting a Warrington-based single-form entry primary school that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable teaching assistant for a full-time temporary contract with hours consisting of 8:30am - 3:30pm. This is a full-time role supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis that has behavioural needs and speech delay.Your new roleIn your new role as a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting a pupil within the reception class on a 1:1 basis. You will act as this pupils' main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the gate and walking them back to their grown-up(s) at the end of the day. This pupil is extremely loving and bright but is presenting some behavioural needs and has a speech delay. Their behaviour is not aggressive, but they can be extremely disruptive and disengaged. You will work closely with your new pupil to build a strong constructive relationship to promote their learning and engagement and implement behaviour strategies best suited to their needs, such as fidget toys, playing games to retain focus, DOJO and Now and Next. You will also provide phonics screening and speech interventions to promote their speech and language.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience supporting pupils aged between 4 - 11 in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Experience delivering phonics and/or basic speech and language support
  • Experience supporting EYFS or KS1 is preferable, but KS2 experience is being considered
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous
