Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Warrington-based (WA4) single-form entry primary school that is at the heart of its local community as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable teaching assistant for a long-term full-time temporary contract that will last the rest of the academic year. This role is based within the reception class and will commence on 22/04/2025.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be joining an extremely supportive and welcoming team of like-minded professionals. You will work alongside the reception class teacher and offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment for all pupils by building strong constructive relationships, aiding in behaviour management and utilising an array of learning equipment. You will offer support across the whole class, tailoring your approach to best suit individual attainment and physical needs and taking a pupil-centred approach to education. You will offer phonics sessions/interventions on a 1:1 and small group basis and implement an array of positive behaviour strategies. The pupils within this class are extremely loving, but some pupils can at times be disruptive and disengage with learning material. To combat this, you will use positive behaviour reinforcement, DOJO and brain breaks to retain focus and support learning outcomes. What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience supporting pupils aged between 4-11, as well as:

  • Experience delivering phonics sessions (RWI or Jolly Phonics is preferred)
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
