Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Role Overview: As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be a pivotal member of our engineering team, responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions and engineering consultancy on complex projects. This role will focus on the creation and assurance of specialist glovebox models and drawings while supporting the Senior Mechanical Engineer/Lead in achieving engineering excellence and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Delivery: Support the execution of five glovebox models and produce corresponding drawings compliant with BS 8888 standards.
- Engineering Consultancy: Provide expert design engineering consultancy to resolve complex engineering challenges and ensure innovative solutions within the team.
- Standardization: Act as the central point of contact for the creation and quality assurance of Company Standard Glovebox Drawings, ensuring adherence to engineering standards.
- 3D CAD Development: Collaborate on the development and modification of 3D CAD data as needed to enhance design effectiveness and accuracy.
- Tool Configuration Refinement: Assist in refining the configuration of tools and strategies/procedures pertaining to glovebox design and engineering practices.
- Standards Maintenance: Work closely with supply chain partners and relevant stakeholders to ensure engineering standards are continually reviewed, updated, and maintained in alignment with best practices.
- Mentorship: Foster the growth of future engineering talent by mentoring junior engineers and providing guidance on evolving into subject matter experts within the field.
Accountabilities:
- Report directly to the Senior Mechanical Engineer/Lead, providing essential technical expertise in key areas of specialized engineering.
- Ensure the timely delivery of assigned specialist work packages, maintaining high standards of quality, cost-efficiency, and adherence to safety, regulatory, and legal requirements.
- Maintain technical responsibility for the design of complex engineering systems, ensuring innovative and compliant solutions are delivered.
- Capture, preserve, and disseminate essential engineering knowledge and lessons learned within the team, facilitating a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the broader engineering community.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in mechanical design, particularly in glovebox or containment systems.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of engineering standards, including BS 8888.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
