  • Cable jointing or HV fitting experience
  • Service and mains.

  • DNO Authorisations for SPEN to receive and cancel PTW (or alternative equivalent DNO authorisation i.e. ENW, NPG) - Desirable

JOB SUMMARY:Working nationwide, our client is one of the UK’s fastest-growing and innovative utility infrastructure providers with the experience of having worked on Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN), Scottish and Southern Electricity (SSE), Northern Power Grid (NPG), Electricity North West (ENWL), Western Power Distribution (WPD) and UK Power Networks (UKPN).Our client provides expertise in all aspects of power and electrical infrastructure and civil engineering including: LV & HV Cable Jointing (11kV and 33kV), Renewables, Electric Vehicle Charger Installation, Substation Decommissioning & Renewal, Electrician Services, Civil Engineering, Cable Pulling & Laying, Excavation & Reinstatement, Road Construction, Ducting & Proving Works, Enabling Works, Remediation and Civils Project Management.KEY DELIVERABLES:
  • Support with the installation of power cable joints and terminations on paper/lead or polymeric underground or substation cable systems, switchgear, transformers and associated equipment in substations operating at up to 33kV.
  • Support with the replacement of plant / equipment along with associated multicores and earthing cables to make a fully operational scheme
  • Progress to "Authorised Person" status under SPEN's Safety Rules, allowing the individual to
    • a) have independent access to substations containing live exposed conductors,
    • b) to receive a permit to work and
    • c) to supervise a working party.
  • Recognise best practices and promote innovative ideas.
  • Keep safe and maintain all company property issued, ensure it is routinely PAT or calibration tested and bring to the company’s attention any items that are not of a serviceable nature in a timely manner.
  • Assist technical staff such as SAPs in undertaking cable identification, spiking, phasing and pressure testing of power cable systems up to 33kV.
