My client is a privately owned business which operates in the scrap recycling sector who are looking to expand their talent with the addition of a Senior MIS Developer to work from their head office in Warrington (hybrid working available).

As a Senior MIS developer you will lead a team of MIS developers in designing, developing, testing and implementing the MIS solutions required by the Group. Reporting to the MIS Manager you will be expected to liaise with developers, business analysts and directly with members of the business to ensure quality, timely deliveries of MIS solutions in accordance with expectations.

The successful candidate will ensure that all MIS solutions produced meet department guidelines for framework, security and performance. You will have a deep understanding of the products you are working on ensuring that new developments do not compromise the continuity of any product currently in place.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing accurate estimates of development timescale from user stories presented by the business analysts
  • Breaking down user stories into manageable tasks and ensure tasks are delegated to appropriate developers within your team
  • Raising any issues, blockers and concerns to your managers and the business analysts in charge of the product you are working on
  • Ensuring further development of existing systems does not compromise the continuity of the existing system in place.
  • Thoroughly testing the MIS reporting that you and your team have developed to ensure that positive, negative and continuity tests are passed
  • Providing 2nd line support for issues raised via the ServiceDesk which impact your products

You will have:

  • At least 5 years proven commercial development experience in SQL
  • At least 2 years proven commercial development experience in Tableau, PowerBI
  • Demonstrable commercial experience working with automation technology (pipelines, adf, synapse pipeline etc) to run a large sale reporting suite.
  • Demonstrable commercial experience of working with Cloud based MIS solutions
  • Experience with large sets of data (10's or 100's of millions of records)
  • Ability to import data from multiple sources (File based, from source database, from Excel spreadsheets, from streams etc) - both full reload and incrementals
  • Proven, demonstrable experience of working in agile environments using a modern development management solution (for example Jira or Azure Devops)
