We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Safety Justification Engineer to play a critical role in ensuring the safe delivery of cutting-edge projects. This is a hybrid role with the flexibility of working from home for 3 days per week and 2 days in the office at one of our locations in Warrington, Preston, or Sellafield.About the RoleAs a Senior Safety Justification Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development of safety justifications for complex projects, ensuring compliance with stringent safety regulations. Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding multi-disciplinary teams through the entire project lifecycle, from concept to commissioning.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of safety case strategies.
  • Conduct and support Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HAZOP) studies and other safety analysis techniques.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to project teams on all safety-related matters.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of safety processes and procedures.
  • Represent the organisation at internal and external safety reviews and meetings.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of safety excellence.
  • Contribute to bids for new work, showcasing your expertise and expanding the organisation's capabilities.
Essential Criteria:
  • Degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline (e.g., Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics).
  • Eperience in safety justification within the nuclear industry.
  • Strong understanding of safety case principles and methodologies.
  • Proven experience in conducting HAZOP studies and other safety analysis techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience in radiological safety.
  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in bidding and proposal development.
